As a proud member of the St. Jude Leadership Society (SJLS), I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Next Gen Experience 2024 in Memphis, Tennessee. This event not only celebrated our achievements but also deepened our understanding of the vital work being done at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Since its inception in 2017, SJLS has united high-performing students who share a passion for leadership, service, and community. Over six months, we engaged in various leadership development sessions, inspired by the legacy of St. Jude Founder Danny Thomas. These sessions focused on essential traits like good citizenship, gratitude, and empathy—qualities that are vital for effective leadership.
At the Next Gen Experience, I had the chance to connect with mentors, peers, and ALSAC St. Jude executives. This shared experience was invaluable, providing insights into various career paths and enhancing my communication skills. It was inspiring to hear firsthand accounts from leaders in the community about their journeys and the impact of their work.
One of the most eye-opening aspects of the event was learning about the extensive fundraising efforts required to support St. Jude’s mission. We gained insight into how ALSAC operates, understanding the strategic approach to fundraising that ensures no family receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food. Seeing the behind-the-scenes work made me appreciate the dedication that fuels this organization’s success.
The highlight of the experience was visiting the St. Jude campus and witnessing the incredible work in action. It was humbling to see the commitment to finding cures and saving children. As part of a community that has raised over $2 million, I felt a deep sense of pride knowing our efforts directly benefit families in need.
Participating in the SJLS Next Gen Experience has reinforced my commitment to leadership and service. I left Memphis inspired to continue my journey, armed with new knowledge and a stronger network. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families facing unimaginable challenges. I am excited to leverage what I've learned to further support the mission of St. Jude, ensuring that we continue to find cures and save lives.

This summer, I was honored to attend a highly selective week-long youth leadership program organized by our county's Chamber of Commerce. The experience was a whirlwind of activities that combined learning and personal growth.
We kicked off with team-building games and had the opportunity to meet Senator Garrett Richter. Our exploration of local agriculture and visits with county judges and commissioners provided invaluable insights into governance. We learned about the criminal justice system, visited a rehab center, and discussed pressing issues like mental health, hunger, and homelessness.
Our journey also took us to the Ritz Carlton to explore tourism, followed by a look at the cultural economy at Gulfshore Playhouse. A visit to the botanical garden highlighted both environmental opportunities and challenges, while a tour of the transportation management department offered perspectives on managing our county's growth.
This program equipped us with knowledge and inspired us to engage actively in our community’s future.

After the junior year, we took our outbound to North Carolina. More than a vacation, it was meant to undertake self-discovery and teamwork. We trekked through green belts, waded a few rock-climbing walls among other few challenges which stretched our existence and proved to be bonding points. Rope courses facilitated actual dependence on each other. How else would you spend evenings around a bonfire—with lots of shared humor and storytelling? We came back with memories and a greater appreciation for the relationships we have. The beautiful landscapes and experiences of North Carolina are in our hearts forever.
This December of 2022, I initiated an annual Christmas fundraiser in order to raise money for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. My neighborhood is very well known for decking out during the holiday season. With that, comes hours of evening traffic to get through my entire neighborhood to watch the bli9ght show. However, as I was brainstorming ideas to fundraise for a good cause, I realized what an amazing time it was to take initiative. In a days matter, I printed lawn signs and banners in order to explain the cause to the thousands of people driving through the display of lights, who would hopefully donate. As well as crafting the signs, I posted to local social media platforms and websites hoping more people would stop by the fundraising event and donate. Little did I know that in only 5 days of fundraising, myself along with the help of neighborhood children as well as some of my school classmates would raise over 5,000 dollars for the research hospital. I proceeded to transfer this money into a cashier’s check and sent it to St. Jude’s, along with a letter explaining my fundraiser as well as Power of One, and the initiative that my club was aiming to take. After some time, I received a response! It was the best feeling in the world to know how much my actions, no matter how small, could change a suffering child’s life. It reminded me of the message that I am constantly trying to spread. Any small action, no matter how small, can create a ripple with no end. I hope my efforts to aid and change a child’s life can inspire many more to take action.

This is a story that teaches that the difference in appearance, skin color or beliefs, do not separate us, that we are all the same inside, and should embrace diversity.
During Coronavirus time when everyone must stay home, I started an online Story Time series for children.
"This is Me" is a story of who we are and where we came from.
This book was created to explain children about Coronavirus. The story is full with explanations and advice for children to better understand what is going on around them. something exciting your business offers? Say it here.

I was so excited to start the 4th quarter at school as I was supposed to begin the Fabrics and Fashion class. Just because we’re doing online school now, that didn’t stop me from plugging in my sewing machine and start working on the most rewarding project: I started sewing Olson face masks (they have a pocket where a vacuum or air purifier filter fabric can be inserted) and I will be mailing them to a hospital in desperate need. This is my first mask and I’m very proud of how it looks.
As the message of my platform “Power of One” says: I know that I can make a difference and no matter how small one’s acts of kindness are, every one of them will create a ripple with no end.
